Ravings of a Book Junkie

An avid reader, if books were sustenance I'd be fat as a hog. I mainly read dark urban fantasies, but like to mix things up book-wise, just never enough time to read all the books I want to read!

The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake

The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake - Aimee Bender I found this book to be a disappointing read. It becomes less about the protagonist's ability and how it affects her and more about her older brother and the distance he kept between himself and everyone but George, his best friend. She describes his disappearances and reappearances, each with him getting more physically different and worn until he finally stops reappearing at all. (I don't want this to be a spoiler review but I found the ending explanation very dumb.) Anyway, this was one of those books that the premise was way better than the actual book turned out to be, and also a book I sorely regret paying money for.
