I discovered this book while browsing our local library's catalog and didn't have any great expectations for it. Once starting it, though, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The characters (all of them, not just the main protagonists) are interesting and believable as is the plot surrounding them. The only hitch I had with the book was that when describing the Demons history the author resorted to unnecessarily flowery, descriptive prose which tended to bog down the narrative and had me skimming through passages to just get the gist of things and move on. If not for that I would have given Jacob 5 stars.
