Ravings of a Book Junkie

An avid reader, if books were sustenance I'd be fat as a hog. I mainly read dark urban fantasies, but like to mix things up book-wise, just never enough time to read all the books I want to read!

Ain't She Sweet?

Ain't She Sweet? - Susan Elizabeth Phillips found myself both loving & hating this book. Some of the characters with their flawed humanity were so easy to identify with and understand the painful motives that drove them. I totally got Beth & Winnie's angst towards each other, but the Sea-willows long-standing resentment towards her was bizarre to me. That, and Colin forgiving her for the past didn't seem remotely believable to me, I thought this would have been a better read with something different there. Still, the back story with Winnie, Ryan, and Beth was really interesting and I enjoyed her "taking your power back" conversation with her niece. And I was glad to see Winnie take responsibility for her relationship and to confess what she did to Ryan. Overall, it was these secondary character's story that I really liked and not the actual main couple's story (Spoiler Alert!!) which as things went on just got downright silly especially the weird way Colin stayed gone & out of touch then his phone call to demand marriage which was a crazy way to propose (which he didn't do just demanded then hung up), in my opinion.
