Ravings of a Book Junkie

An avid reader, if books were sustenance I'd be fat as a hog. I mainly read dark urban fantasies, but like to mix things up book-wise, just never enough time to read all the books I want to read!

Someone to Watch Over Me: Stories

Someone to Watch Over Me - Richard Bausch As far as historical romances go, this book hits all the marks. Silly heroine, check. Chauvinistic, overbearing male protagonist, check. Flowery descriptions ad nauseam of their surroundings, yep. The plot of the amnesiac has been around for ages and is one of my least favorite plot devices. That, and the fact she didn't do anything original with it, made this book much less better than it could've been. Kleypas is an excellent writer, just look at her Wallflower series, for example. I can't speak for the author but it sure seems like she was asleep at the wheel when this sorry story was dreamed up. Grade: C-
